Foysal Haque is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a member of the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things (WIoT) at Northeastern University, USA. He received his M.S. in Computer Engineering in 2021 from Central Michigan University, USA, and his B.S. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2016 from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh. His research interest is in the intersection of wireless networking, embedded systems, and machine learning with a focus on integrated sensing and communication for next-generation wireless networks. He was the recipient of the best paper award in IEEE iSES 2020.

Milin Zhang is a Ph.D candidate in computer engineering in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a member of the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things at Northeastern University. He received his M.S. in electrical engineering at Syracuse University in 2021. He received B.S. at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2018. His area of study is the integration of deep learning with cutting-edge wireless technologies, including spectrum sensing and split computing.

Shahriar Rifat received his B.S. degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering with a concentration on Communication and Signal Processing in 2019. In 2019, he joined Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. as Core System Engineer where he worked on integration of VoLTE capabilities in 4G core. From 2020 to 2022, he served as a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering in Sonargaon University and Department of Computer Science & Engineering in the University of Information Technology and Sciences while persuing his M.S. degree in Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. His master’s thesis was focused on ultrasound image super resolution. He started his Ph.D. in 2022 under the guidance of Professor Francesco Restuccia at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA. His Ph.D. research focuses on inference time dynamic Adaptation of Neural Networks in resource-constrained edge computing systems.

Andrew Ashdown is a graduate student at Northeastern University. He holds an A.S. in Engineering Science from Hudson Valley Community College and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stony Brook University. His graduate research is focused primarily on 5G cellular technologies, including TCP congestion control, spectral measurement and analysis studies, etc. and his research interests largely fall in these areas. He is currently in collaboration with the AFRL (Air Force Research Labs) and other researchers from Northeastern, and is pursuing graduate coursework as well on topics such as Edge Computing, THz Communications, and the Internet of Things. He is a recipient of the 2024 NDSEG PhD fellowship by the Department of Defense.

Mohammad Abdi received his B.S. degree from Shiraz University (Pahlavi) in Electrical and Computer Engineering with the highest honors, and his concentration was in Control, Optimization, and Signal Processing. In 2016, he started his M.S. program in Telecommunications Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Abbas Sheikhi and Prof. Mahmoud Farhang, working on the analysis, design, and development of Doppler-shifted interference signal cancellation algorithms using adaptive filters. His master’s thesis investigates novel solutions for dynamic and moving clutter rejection in passive radar systems. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Francesco Restuccia at Northeastern University, Boston, USA. His research interests include Embedded Systems, Wireless Communication Systems, and Artificial Intelligence. His research in the lab focuses on Efficient AI enabling the deployment of ML models to resource-constrained IoT devices.

Tanzil Bin Hassan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Islamic University of Technology, Bangladesh. With a background in the telco industry, he is currently engaged in pursuing his Ph.D. in the ECE department at Northeastern University. His research focuses on Open Radio Access Network and the application of AI/ML in the context of 5G and Beyond.

A. Q. M Sazzad Sayyed received his B.Sc.(Engg.) degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh, in 2018. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in electrical engineering with the Institute for Wireless IoT, Northeastern University. He is under direct supervision of Dr. Francesco Restuccia. His research interests include machine learning, dynamic neural network design and embedded deep learning for wireless networks.

K M Rumman will join as a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University, USA in Spring 2024. He completed his M.S. in Applied Statistics and Data Science in 2023 from Jahagirnagar University(JU), Bangladesh and his B.S. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2016 from Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh. His focus is on performing research at the convergence of wireless networking, embedded systems and machine learning.

Francesco Pessia is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a member of the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things (WIoT) at Northeastern University, USA. He received his M.S. and B.S. in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy. His research interest is in embedded systems and FPGA design.

Farhad is a PhD student working on FPGA-based design and implementation for next-generation edge computing systems.

Arman has completed his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology with a research focus in IoT, Embedded Systems, FPGA Developing, AI/ML, Image Processing and Biomedical Signal Processing. His current research interest lies in embedded AI/ML for next-generation mobile systems.

Anna Buchele graduated from Olin College of Engineering with a degree in robotics. After graduating, she worked for several years at Cognex, a computer vision company, where she specialized in AI for edge-based computer vision applications. She is most passionate about the application of AI to perception systems. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, creating art, and exploring the city.

Conrad received his Bachelors Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2022. After two years at Amazon Robotics, he joined MENTIS laboratory as Ph.D. student in 2024 . His research interests are in embedded systems.

Daniela is an undergraduate student at Northeastern University. Her research interests lie in wireless networks and machine learning.

Matthew is a second year electrical and computer engineering student currently interested in neural networks, wireless networks, and embedded systems.

Federico Candela obtained his ICT degree from the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, completing an internship and his thesis at STMicroelectronics in July 2020. In November 2020, he obtained professional qualification and has been a registered member of the Reggio Calabria Order of Engineers since January 2021. In the same year, he was awarded a research grant to develop intelligent computer vision systems in collaboration with Co.re.com (Regional Communications Committee) Calabria and Agcom (National Communications Agency). In 2022, he embarked on his Ph.D. focused on Vision AI topics, collaborating with Tecnocampus Mataró near Barcelona, and currently with Northeastern University. Throughout his studies, he also founded a student association and organized activities such as visits to Google London, CERN Geneva, and ESA Amsterdam.

Gabriele Restuccia is a visiting PhD student in ICT at the Roux Institute, hailing from the University of Palermo, Italy. He obtained his Master’s in Engineering in Computer Science from Sapienza University of Rome and collaborated with the Freie University of Berlin on his thesis. Before his current endeavors, he was a Researcher at the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications in Rome and was actively involved in the SPARTA EU H2020 project. His primary research areas encompass IoT, Machine Learning with a keen emphasis on Neural Networks, as well as software development and security network protocols specifically tailored for constrained devices.

Francesca Meneghello is a Research Fellow at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padova (Italy). She received her Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering in 2022 from the same university. Her research interests include sensing-assisted algorithms for context- and energy-aware wireless networks, and communication-assisted approaches for remote radio frequency sensing through deep-learning architectures and signal processing. She received the 2022 GTTI Ph.D. award for Ph.D. Theses in the field of Communication Technologies and the Fall 2022 IEEE DataPort Dataset Upload Contest award in the Machine Learning category. She visited the MENTIS laboratory in 2023 with a Fulbright-Schuman visiting scholar fellowship.

Niloofar Bahadori received a B.Sc. in electrical engineering and an M.Sc. (Hons.) in radio frequency (RF) engineering from Isfahan University. She also received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from NCA&T State University. She was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Northeastern University under the supervision of Dr. Francesco Restuccia. Her research focused on tackling challenges facing next-generation cellular (5G) and Wi-Fi (802.11ax) networks such as millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication, multi-user multi-input-multi-output (MU-MIMO), and Wi-Fi sensing. She developed analytical approaches, and heuristic algorithms, in addition to data-driven and machine learning-based approaches to solving complex wireless optimization problems. She currently is a Wireless System Engineer at Cisco Systems.

Riccardo Rusca got his Bachelor and Master Degree in Computer Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, in Italy. From November 2020 he is a PhD student in the same university under the supervision of Professor Claudio Casetti. His research is focused on crowd monitoring and city sensing techniques supported by next generation mobile networks. Furthermore, he participated on the 6G flagship Hexa-X project, focusing on Federated Learning for IoT devices in Smart Cities context to collaboratively learn optimal resource allocation given traffic demand.

Fabio Busacca received the Ph.D. degree in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Palermo, Italy, in 2022. He is currently an assistant professor at the University of Catania, Italy. His main research interests are LPWAN protocols for the IoT, with a specific focus on the LoRa protocol, Artificial Intelligence and Game Theory applied to next-generation communication networks, and Underwater Acoustic Communications.

Francesco Raviglione received his bachelor degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2016. He then obtained a master degree in Mechatronic Engineering, in December 2018, in Politecnico di Torino, focusing, when choosing between the different second year courses, on embedded systems, automotive controls and networking technologies for mechatronics systems.

Starting from January 2019 and until April 2019 he had a grant in Politecnico di Torino, under the supervision of Professor Claudio Ettore Casetti, working on the performance evaluation of IEEE 802.11p-compatible wireless cards and on open source solutions for vehicular communications.
He was then on 6 months pre-Ph.D. grant under the supervision of Professor Claudio Ettore Casetti, from May 1st 2019, joining the TNG group and officially starting his Ph.D. on November 1st 2019.

He concluded his Ph.D. cum laude in December 2022, presenting a thesis titled “Open Platforms for Connected Vehicles”, and he is now an Assistant Professor with time contract at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (DET).
From October 2021 to April 2022, he was a visiting Ph.D. Student at the Roux Institute at Northeastern University, in Portland, ME, USA, under the supervision of Professor Francesco Restuccia. During his visit, he worked on an innovative framework combining multiple technologies for reliable vehicular communications and Vehicular Edge Intelligence.

As main research interests, he is working in the field of developing and evaluating platforms able to provide vehicular connectivity (both cellular, C-V2X, and DSRC – Dedicated Short-Range Communications), in different scenarios, and on open source, customizable, solutions for wireless and vehicular networking use cases. He is also one of the developers of the ms-van3t vehicular networking simulation and emulation framework.

Marco Cominelli is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Brescia, Italy. He received the M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering in 2019, and the Ph.D. in Information Engineering in 2023, both from the University of Brescia. He was a visiting student at the University of Edinburgh and at Northeastern University. His research interests include the study of device-free wireless sensing techniques and their impact on users’ security and privacy.

Corrado Puligheddu is an Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy, since 2023. His research interests include 5G networks, Open RAN and Machine Learning. Puligheddu received his Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2022. He obtained the B.S and M.S. in Computer Engineering from the same institution in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
